New Drama, New My Fair Princess

haha, yay for my occasional drop in posts
I haven't really been keeping up with this blog. Breaks seems to be more for sleeping and working. Catching up on everything!
One reason... for lack of posts... I haven't been watching anything!!! No time for dramas anymore :c It's either that or the stuff I watch make me say "eh..." at the end and aren't worth blogging. No time, no time for dramas, no time for blogging. BUT! I have been watching this one drama xD I feel like I really want to do a drama post... but I guess... I will just do a quickie post.

I'm so excited and so into the new my fair princess!! 新还珠格格 It's been 13 years since the last my fair princess. This new one is a total of 90 something episodes, combining all three parts of the old drama into one. They separate every 30 episodes into three parts, with different ending theme songs, 燕儿翩翩飞 the swallow flies,风儿阵阵吹the wind blows,人儿何处归 where does one go。

First off, the titles I feel are quite meaningful :) It seems to summarize each part quite well. The beginning is when Xiao Yan Zi flies into the palace is where the story begins. The second part is when the princess from afar comes to the palace as a concubine to the emperor but her heart and love belongs to another back home. This princess's love is like the wind, hence, the wind blows in breezes to her lover. The final part is where does one go. This is really fitting for the final part, because Xiao Yan Zi's world turns upside down when she learns the truth about her past.

I won't be comparing the two dramas because that it just silly! I'm taking this new one in as a completely new drama. I love the new rendition of the classic. I really like the cast in this one, all young, handsome, pretty, charming. Oh and Hong Kong actress 邓萃雯 The bright colors and the characters bring a nice new feel. This new drama is quite cheerful and brings naivety into the dark palace life.

What I really like about this new one is there are quite a few additions! For example with characters, there is Ban Jie Ming, the palace artist/love rival, and also the fifth prince's mother is present. Addition of Ban Jie Ming's character brings a level of multiculturalism to the drama. He brings in elements of western culture such as his violin, art, clocks and CHOCOLATE :D I'm predicting that the fifth prince's mother is going to be an obstacle in his relationship with Xiao Yan Zi. I like how they still have some parts that are from the original drama and novel but I love how they add a lot more new events, such as Zi Wei cooking. Oh! And I absolutely like how they used the theme songs from the original one in this new one. I love the meshing of the story line of all three parts. I personally didn't like the third part of the original one (maybe because it was a completely different cast...), but I definitely like how this entire drama is the same cast (which is a plus)

Good old Xiao Yan Zi and romantic Zi Wei are now back! :D
I'm quite far from finishing the drama but wow! this "quickie" post became so long! So far so good! All positives for this one, and looking forward to watching on!
